METHOD FOR OPERATING A LARGE DIESEL ENGINE, USE OF THIS METHOD AND LARGE DIESEL ENGINE

A method for operating a large-scale diesel engine is proposed, which is operable at least in a gas mode, in which a gas is introduced into a cylinder as fuel, wherein during operation in the gas mode (10) a condition of heavy load change is detected (13) and then the large-scale diesel engine is operated in a transient mode, which comprises the following steps: - Setting a setpoint value for the rotational speed or torque of the engine - Determining an upper limit for the quantity of gas (14) that is provided per working cycle of the large-scale diesel engine as fuel, - Determining an additional quantity of a liquid fuel (14) that is introduced into the combustion chamber in addition to the gas, wherein the additional quantity is dimensioned such that the setpoint value for the rotational speed is realized. Furthermore, a large-scale diesel engine is proposed that is operated according to such a method.
