An apparatus for diagnosing a plurality of battery cells based on diagnostic data acquired from the plurality of battery cells includes a processor configured to diagnose the plurality of battery cells; and a memory configured to store instructions that are executed by the processor, wherein, based on the instructions, the processor is configured to: acquire a raw diagnostic dataset of the plurality of battery cells; generate a smoothed diagnostic dataset by smoothing noise in the raw diagnostic dataset due to a deviation in positions at which the plurality of battery cells are left unattended; generate a normalized diagnostic dataset by normalizing the raw diagnostic dataset based on the smoothed diagnostic dataset; and diagnose the plurality of battery cells based on the normalized diagnostic dataset.
