Source
The invention relates to a method for protecting against manipulation of payload data packets (N) to be transmitted via a bus system (50) between at least two system components (1, 2), wherein the system components (1, 2) each comprise a signing and signature verification unit (10) by means of which data packets can be generated and verified. It is provided that a first one of the system components (1) generates an independent protection data packet (S) with protection information for a payload data packet (N) to be transmitted via the bus system (50), which is independent of this payload data packet (N) but is nonetheless uniquely assignable to it, whereupon the generated protection data packet (S) is sent separately from the associated payload data packet (N) via the bus system (50) to the second one of the system components (2), and verification of the authenticity of the transmitting payload data packet (N) takes place in the second one of the system components (2) on the basis of the sent protection data packet (S).
