METHOD FOR OPERATING AN ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM OF A WIND TURBINE, ENERGY STORAGE SYSTEM AND ENERGY STORAGE DEVICE

A method is for operating an energy storage system. The system includes a plurality of contact points across a serial connection of energy storage cells for measuring a parameter and a charging circuit for charging an energy storage device. The method includes providing first information representative of an outcome of an operation performed on a value of the parameter across a pair of contact points. Second information which is representative of an outcome of an operation performed on a reference value of the parameter across the pair of contact points is provided. The reference value is the value of the parameter expected when the storage device is of a predefined type. Third information is determined depending on the first and second information. The third information is representative of whether the storage system is of the predefined type. Operating information for the charging circuit is determined depending on the third information.
