An inverter and a control method for sending a pulse width modulation (PWM) driver gating signal. The inverter includes a primary-side circuit, a transformer, a secondary-side circuit, and a controller. The controller is configured to: in response to a change of an absolute value of an alternating current voltage output by a filter circuit from being greater than an absolute value of a preset voltage threshold to being less than or equal to the absolute value of the preset voltage threshold, control the inverter to switch from a first working mode to a second working mode, to enable at least one and at most three of four switching transistors included in a bridge arm to be turned on.
