A method, and a related control system and related vehicle for managing a parking maneuver, includes controlling a driving unit to perform a first reversing maneuver into a parking area. An object detection signal from a first sensor is received and indicates the presence and distance of an external object behind the vehicle, and stops the maneuver when the object is within a first predetermined distance. Upon receiving user input, the driving unit performs a second reversing maneuver. A boundary detection signal from a second sensor indicates a parking boundary, and the maneuver stops when the vehicle is within that boundary.
