The invention relates to a method for online adaptation of at least one characteristic curve of a hybrid vehicle, having a hybridized drive train with an electric drive, which can be supplied with power from an electrical energy storage device, wherein the at least one characteristic curve is used for selecting an operating mode and/or for determining an operating point of the drive train, characterized by the steps: (a) Definition of multiple subdivision limits (2-7) for subdividing a state of charge range (1) of the energy storage device into multiple ranges, wherein at least one of the subdivision limits (3-6) can be variably set during operation of the vehicle; (b) Specification of a profile (10, 11) of the at least one characteristic curve as a function of a state of charge of the energy storage device, wherein the values (13-16) of the at least one characteristic curve at the subdivision limits (2-7) are fixedly specified; and (c) Online adaptation of the at least one characteristic curve in the event of a displacement of at least one of the variable subdivision limits (3-6), wherein the at least one characteristic curve is displaced and scaled taking into account the fixedly specified values (13-16) at the subdivision limits (2-7) and corresponding to the displaced variable subdivision limit(s).
