The invention relates to an electromagnetic valve (1) for a fuel system, consisting of a housing (2) in which an electrical coil (7) and a magnetic armature (9) are arranged. The magnetic armature (9) forms, together with an outer shell (10) and an armature plate (15), a magnetic circuit, wherein the armature plate (15) carries a valve member (19) which, with a flow opening (29) at a valve seat (21), forms the switchable valve. When the coil (7) is energized, a magnetic field is generated in the magnetic armature (9) and the armature plate (15) is attracted by the magnetic armature (9) into an operating position. When the coil (7) is de-energized, the armature plate (15) is returned to a rest position. According to the invention, the valve seat (21), the valve member (19), the valve spring (24) and the armature plate (15) form a valve unit (17). In the valve unit (17), the valve seat (21) is held loosely between the valve member (19) and the armature plate (15). For assembly, the valve unit is inserted into an open end (3) of the housing (2), wherein the insertion depth is limited by engagement of the valve spring (24) on an inner shoulder (32) of the housing (2).
