An autonomous actuator (6) for varying a light distribution of a lighting device of a motor vehicle is proposed. A driving state of the motor vehicle can be determined. The actuator (6) is assigned a movable light variation component. The actuator (6) comprises a drive (16) for moving the light variation component and a control unit (14) for the drive (16). The control unit (14) is configured to adjust the light distribution of the lighting device as a function of the driving state.
