A camera (10) is specified which has an image sensor (20) with a plurality of pixel elements for capturing image data of an object stream with objects (14) of a height moving in a direction of movement (16) relative to the camera (10), and a control and evaluation unit (22) which is designed to determine the height of a respective object (14) on the basis of the image data. The image sensor (20) is an event-based image sensor, and the control and evaluation unit (22) is designed to record a measurement series of points in time at which pixel elements adjacent in the direction of movement successively register an event, to determine a velocity of an object image of the object (14) on the image sensor (20) from the measurement series, and to determine the height therefrom.
