The invention relates to a front axle carrier (1) for a motor vehicle, with longitudinal members (2, 3) and a cross member (4) connecting the longitudinal members to one another, wherein the cross member (4) is designed as a hollow body and is provided with at least one connecting device (16.1, 16.2) for connecting a steering housing (15). In order for such a front axle carrier to have high bending stiffness with low weight and to enable assembly-friendly connection of the steering housing, in that the latter can be fed to the cross member (4) from below—as viewed in the vehicle vertical axis direction—and connected thereto, the connecting device (16.1, 16.2) according to the invention is formed from a metal formed part (19) defining an indentation, which is inserted into a recess arranged on the front or rear side of the cross member (4) and is welded to the cross member (4), is open on the underside and along a height section of at least 20 mm, and has an opening (20) at the upper end of the height section, preferably a hole for receiving a fastening element (21) connected to or connectable to the steering housing (15).
