A bearing compartment assembly for a gas turbine engine (10) includes an intermediate case (76), a towershaft (68), a shaft (46, 48), a bull gear (72), a bevel gear (74), a towershaft bearing (96), and a support mount (80; 180; 280). The intermediate case (76) includes a plurality of struts (78) distributed circumferentially about an axial centerline (12). The towershaft (68) extends through one of the struts (78). The shaft (46, 48) passes through a center of the intermediate case (76) and extends along the axial centerline (12). The bull gear (72) is connected to and extends axially from the shaft (46, 48). The bevel gear (74) is mounted to an end of the towershaft (68) and is engaged with the bull gear (72). The towershaft (68) is connected to the shaft (46, 48) via the bull gear (72) and the bevel gear (74). The towershaft bearing (96) surrounds and is operably connected to the towershaft (68). The support mount (80; 180; 280) is connected to the intermediate case (76) and extends from a surface of the intermediate case (76) to the towershaft bearing (96).
