WIDE VOLTAGE RANGE POWER CONVERSION SYSTEM FOR ELECTRIC AND/OR HYBRID VEHICLES
DRIVE
July 10, 2024
The invention refers to a power conversion system for electric and/or hybrid vehicles, comprising: a transformer having at least two windings, at least two power modules connected respectively to one windings of the transformer, and a control unit adapted for controlling the operation of each one of the power modules. The transformer is a variable turns ratio transformer and the control unit is further adapted to dynamically set a transformer turns ratio based on input and output voltages measured respectively at two power modules of the system coupled to transformer windings, in order to bring the expression Vo/ (Vin * Nm) closest to 1. The power conversion system of the invention operates at the optimum conversion point or close to it, for a wide range of voltages, so as to increase the efficiency of the power conversion, and reduce reactive power and EMI noise.
