The present invention relates to a method of controlling an electrical energy supply to an electrical DC motor of a driving unit of a vehicle mirror device rotatable between mechanically predetermined positions comprising the steps of: a) measuring an actual electric current (I) supplied to the motor; d) comparing the measurements of the actual electric current (I) supplied to the motor with the cut-off current threshold (Ithr); e) cutting off an electrical energy supply to the motor if the actual electric current (I) is equal to or greater than the cut-off current threshold (Ithr). In order to provide autonomous adaptation to motor temperature changes the method additionally comprises b) determining the maximal inrush current (Imax) for the motor starting time period (Ts); c) determining the cut-off current threshold (Ithr) based on the maximal inrush current (Imax), in particular as amounting 0.5-1.1 of the maximal inrush current (Imax). The present invention relates to a control system realizing the above method of automatic controlling.
