To provide a control device for an internal combustion engine with which decreases in torque and output can be prevented by appropriately controlling an opening and closing operation of an on-off valve provided midway along a water drainage line. This control device for an internal combustion engine includes an intake passage (4), an exhaust passage (5), an intercooler (10), a catalyst (18), a water drainage line (28), an on-off valve (29), a detection means (20), and an on-off valve control unit (30). The intake passage (4) has one end connected to an intake side of an internal combustion engine (1). The exhaust passage (5) has one end connected to an exhaust side of the internal combustion engine (1). The intercooler (10) is disposed in the intake passage (4). The catalyst (18) is provided in the exhaust passage (5). The water drainage line (28) has one end connected to a portion of the intake passage (4) downstream of the intercooler (10), has another end connected to a portion of the exhaust passage (5) upstream of the catalyst (18), and allows condensation water condensed by the intercooler (10) to be discharged therethrough to the exhaust passage (5). The on-off valve (29) is provided midway along the water drainage line (28). The detection means (20) is provided in at least one of the intake passage (4) and the exhaust passage (5) and detects at least one of a state of intake air and a state of exhaust. The on-off valve control unit (30) performs opening and closing control of the on-off valve (29) in accordance with output of the detection means (20).
