AN AIRBAG UNIT FOR A MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY DEVICE AND A RELATED METHOD OF PACKAGING AN AIRBAG

There is disclosed an airbag unit (21) for a motor vehicle safety device. The unit (21) comprises an inflatable airbag (1) formed of flexible material and provided in a rolled and/or folded package (8), which is held under compression by a cover (9) extending around at least part of the package (8). The cover (9) is formed of a moulded pulp material (13) and is configured to impart a predetermined stable shape to the unit (1). A method of packaging an airbag (1) in such a manner is also disclosed.
