VEHICULAR PEDESTRIAN-PROTECTING AIRBAG DEVICE
DRIVE
November 2, 2016
A vehicular pedestrian protection airbag device is provided that is capable of suppressing increases in weight and cost accompanying reinforcement measures, and capable of maintaining good pedestrian protection performance of an upper face of a hood. An automobile pedestrian protection airbag device (28) is installed at a vehicle lower side of a rear end section (16) of a hood (14) at a vehicle rear side of a protruded portion (24). A pedestrian protection airbag (32) and an inflator (34) are installed inside a module case (30). The inflator (34) is attached to a bottom wall (24A) of the protruded portion (24) by inflator attachment brackets (36) each formed with an excess length portion (52) at an intermediate portion. Accordingly, when the inflators (34) attempt to move toward the vehicle front side due to deployment reaction force of the pedestrian protection airbag (32), the excess length portions (52) are compressed and deform to enable the deployment reaction force to escape.
