The invention relates to a method for cleaning a head-up display device (2) of a motor vehicle (1), in which foreign particles (15) are removed from at least one component (9, 10, 13, 14, 18, 19) of the head-up display device (2) without the use of liquid, and the head-up display device (2) is thereby at least partially cleaned, wherein the at least one component (9, 10, 13, 14, 18, 19) of the head-up display device (2) is moved abruptly by a vibration unit (16) of the head-up display device (2), and the foreign particles (15) are removed by the abrupt movement.
