A power reception device (200) includes a flat plate-like core (240) and a coil (250) spirally wound around the core and having a winding central axis extending in a horizontal direction. The coil is formed like a flat plate to have a longer side portion (251) and a shorter side portion (252) when the coil is viewed in cross section at a plane perpendicular to an extending direction of the coil. The coil is wound around the core such that the longer side portion faces a surface of the core. Therefore, the thickness of the power reception device can be reduced.
