September 28, 2016
The invention relates to a fuel injector for a fuel injection system, in particular a common-rail injection system, comprising a linearly movable injection needle (1) for opening and closing at least one injection opening, furthermore comprising a control valve (2) for controlling the linear movement of the injection needle (1), wherein the control valve (2) in the open position effects a relief of a control chamber (3) via a discharge throttle (4), which can be filled with fuel via an inlet throttle (5) opening into the control chamber (3). According to the invention, the inlet throttle (5) can be switched on or off via an annular switching element (7) cooperating with a control edge (6), which is guided linearly movably on the injection needle (1).
