  "textContent": "The invention relates to a method for restricting the search space of a model-based online optimization method for predicting a state variable of a vehicle, which enables the greatest possible search space restriction and which can avoid or at least minimize impairment of the quality of the optimization result of a subsequent optimization method. The method relates in particular to a method for restricting a search space for a model-based online optimization method which determines a predicted optimal profile of a state variable of a vehicle within a predefined search space for a prediction horizon. The method comprises the steps of: determining a predicted second profile of the state variable along the road section ahead in dependence on route information of the road section ahead (S1-S3) and restricting the search space in dependence on the determined predicted second profile of the state variable (S4). According to the invention, the profile of at least one state variable of the vehicle, whose change can be at least partially traced back to one or more pieces of route information, is estimated on the basis of the corresponding route information in order to determine at least an approximate profile of the state variable. On the basis of this estimated profile, the search space for the subsequent, actual precise determination of the state variable can be restricted. Thus, the computation time of a subsequent optimization method can be reduced or, with the same computation time, a larger road horizon or a larger prediction horizon can be used for optimization, which improves the quality of the optimization method.",
