NAVIGATION SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING AND OUTPUTTING A TRAVEL ROUTE

The invention relates to a navigation system (3) which is designed to determine and output a travel route (22) to a destination specifiable by a user of the navigation system (3), and a method for operating a navigation system (3) of a vehicle (1). A database (10) is maintained for database entries selectable by the user, each of which has a travel destination. Furthermore, a location at which the vehicle (1) stops is classified as a stopping location (17, 18) to be stored if a specified first evaluation criterion is met, and for each location classified as a stopping location (17, 18), destination information is automatically determined. Additionally, multiple stopping locations (17, 18) are classified as to be combined if a specified second evaluation criterion is met, and the destination information for stopping locations (17, 18) which are classified as to be combined are automatically combined into a single database entry and stored in the database (10).
