A transport vehicle for riding animals, in particular for horses, comprises a chassis (12) and a superstructure having a floor plate (20), side walls (30) rising from the floor plate (20), and a rear flap (40). The rear flap (40) is movably mounted and pivotable between a closed position, in which the rear flap (40) assumes the position of a rear side wall, and an open position, in which the rear flap (40) assumes the position of a ramp over which a riding animal can be guided into and out of the transport vehicle. The floor plate (20), the side walls (30), and the rear flap (40) are each constructed from plastic. The floor plate (20) and/or the rear flap (40) have a layered structure. The core material (23, 44) of the floor plate (20) or the rear flap (40) is a plastic foam provided with three-dimensional glass bridges.
