  "textContent": "The application relates to a self-propelled construction machine, in particular a road milling machine, recycler or surface miner, which has a machine frame (1) that is carried by an undercarriage (2) having front and rear running gears (3, 4). An working device (5) is arranged on the machine frame (1), which has a working roller (17) for processing the ground. The individual running gears (3, 4) are each assigned lifting devices (15, 16) which are respectively extendable and retractable for raising or lowering the running gears relative to the machine frame. Furthermore, the construction machine has a control unit (20) for controlling the lifting devices (15, 16), which has a lifting position measuring device (22) for detecting the lifting position of the lifting devices and an inclination detection device (23) for detecting the inclination of the machine frame (1) transverse to the working direction A of the construction machine. The control unit (20) provides a first operating mode for processing the ground and a second operating mode for repositioning the construction machine and is distinguished by the fact that in the second operating mode the lifting devices (15, 16) assigned to the individual running gears (3, 4) or wheels are controlled such that the machine frame (1) is aligned essentially horizontally transverse to the working direction A of the construction machine, wherein preferably the ground clearance b is maximal or does not fall below a minimum distance.
