Tire tread with main lugs extending from a tread edge to the equatorial mid-plane on each side of which are a plurality of secondary lugs () extending over 40% to 60% of the tread half-width, each secondary lug () having a width 20% to 40% of the shortest distance between two main lugs (). Each main lug () comprises, on its trailing lateral face (), a widened portion () of width D extending over an axial distance from a tread edge and being joined to the main lug by end face () inclined at an angle B between 18 degrees and 25 degrees to the circumferential direction. Each secondary lug () has end face () inclined at an angle with the same orientation as angle B with respect to the circumferential direction, angle being between 18 degrees and 25 degrees.
