An aspect of the present disclosure provides a separator for a lithium secondary battery comprising a porous polymer substrate, and a porous coating layer formed on at least one surface of the porous polymer substrate, wherein the porous coating layer includes inorganic particles, a polyvinylidene fluoride-based binder polymer, a polyvinylpyrrolidone binder polymer and a dispersant and the polyvinylidene fluoride-based binder polymer has a predetermined molecular weight and amount, and a manufacturing method thereof. Accordingly, it is possible to provide a separator with improved heat resistance as well as Lami Strength that is equal to or similar to that of the existing separator.
