A display apparatus (1) is a display apparatus that projects an image onto a target projection surface having a first region in which a first wavelength light is reflected and a second region in which the first wavelength light is transmitted and in which visible light is emitted by receiving a second wavelength light that is different from the first wavelength light. The display apparatus (1) includes: a wavelength selection unit (141) that selects the first or the second wavelength light in accordance with a projection region based on region distribution information which is information about a distribution of the first and the second regions on the target projection surface; a light source unit (20) that emits light selected from either the first or the second wavelength light; and a projection unit (30) that projects the image formed by the emitted light onto the target projection surface.
