The present invention refers a housing (1) for accommodating a plurality of battery cells of a battery system. The housing (1) comprised a metallic housing frame (20). Further, the housing (1) comprises a cooling plate (10) on which the metallic housing frame (20) is disposed on, wherein the cooling plate (10) and the metallic housing frame (20) form an interior space (25) adapted to accommodate a plurality of battery cells of a battery system. Further, the housing (1) comprises an electrically insulating coating (30) contacting the metallic housing frame (20) and enclosing the metallic housing frame (20). Further, the coating (30) covers an outer surface (14) of the cooling plate (10) facing away from the interior space (25). Furthermore, a battery system (100), an electrical vehicle and a method for manufacturing a housing (1) for accommodating a plurality of battery cells of a battery system are provided.
