The present invention relates to a lithium secondary battery and, more specifically, to a lithium secondary battery, which specifies conditions of a cathode and an electrolyte and, further, comprises a separator that is surface-modified by thermally treating a carbon material or includes a molybdenum disulfide coating layer, and thus the present invention can implement higher energy density and longer life span than a conventional lithium secondary battery.
