CHILD SAFETY SEAT

The child safety seat (1) for a vehicle in accordance with the invention comprises an outer shell (2) enclosing a seating area (3) for a child (4) and a protective element (5). The protective element (5) comprises a housing component (7) and an impact component (8), wherein the housing component (7) is embedded into the outer shell (2) and the impact component (8) is mounted to the housing component (7), is configured to be enclosed at least partially by the housing component (7), and is configured to protrude laterally from the outer shell (2) in a direction facing away from the seating area (3). Elastic elements (15) are used for coupling the outer shell (2) to fixed bearings (12) allowing impact forces to be guided into a structurally stable part of the child safety seat (1), wherein the housing component (7) comprises a flange (112) configured to rest on the outer shell (2), for firmly mount the housing component (7) to the outer shell (2) such that impact forces acting on the impact component (8) are transferred from the impact component (8) to the housing component (7) and are then guided via the flange (112) into the outer shell (2) of the child safety seat (1), deforming the outer shell (2) and compressing the elastic elements (15). Preferably, the housing component (7) or the impact component (8) comprises a deformable region (9) adapted to cushion forces impacting on the impact component (8).
