APPARATUS AND METHOD FOR COLLECTING DATA FOR MAP GENERATION

An apparatus for collecting data for map generation includes a storing unit (12) that stores type information for designating which type of collection target data is to be collected for each of road sections. The collection target data represents a feature in the road section on a map to be generated or updated. The apparatus also includes a notifying unit (21) that notifies a vehicle (3) of the type information with a communication unit (11), and an updating unit (22) that updates the type information for each of the road sections, in the case that collection of the collection target data of the type designated for the road section has been completed, so as to stop collection of the collection target data in the road section.
