CARBON SEAL ASSEMBLY

A seal assembly (60) includes a housing (62) that includes a seal flange (68) at least partially defining a seal opening. A carbon seal (64) is located at least partially in the seal opening and includes a first axially facing surface (67). The seal flange (68) includes an axially facing surface (76) that has a carbide based coating (78) and a diamond-like carbon coating (80) in engagement with the first axially facing surface (67) on the carbon seal (64).
