METHOD AND SYSTEM FOR DETERMINING AN ENGINE TEMPERATURE

Methods and systems for determining an engine temperature for a gas turbine engine (100) are provided. An estimated combustor temperature (T) is determined based on at least one operating condition of the gas turbine engine (100) and an estimated vane mass flow (W). A corrected vane mass flow (Q) is determined based on the estimated combustor temperature (T), the estimated vane mass flow (W), and a combustor pressure (P). The corrected vane mass flow (Q) is compared to a reference vane mass flow (Q) to obtain the mass flow correction factor (Corr). When a condition associated with the mass flow correction factor (Corr) is not satisfied, the estimated combustor temperature (T) is adjusted based on the mass flow correction factor (Corr) to produce an adjusted combustor temperature (T); and the mass flow correction factor (Corr) is updated based on the adjusted combustor temperature (Tj). When the condition associated with the mass flow correction factor (Corr) is satisfied, the estimated combustor temperature (T) is assigned as the engine temperature.
