The method creates an environment model that specifies an immediate environment of the motor vehicle together with potential obstacles in the turning direction; measures a steering-angle of the motor vehicle; creates a prospective driving trajectory of the motor vehicle as a function of the measured steering-angle; and outputs a warning function when the prospective driving trajectory indicates a probable contact of the motor vehicle with at least one obstacle.",
