The present invention refers to a spacer (50) for use in an air intake system (20) of an internal combustion engine for delimiting an intake duct (24) between an intake manifold (26) and a cylinder head (38) of the engine, wherein the spacer is provided with at least one flow-through passage (52) and at least one air-accumulation cavity (60) which are fluid-communicatively connected and constitute the intake duct.
