POWER CONVERTER SYSTEMS WITH INTEGRATED ENERGY STORAGE

A power system (1) is described. The power system (1) includes a power converter system (2) with first and second direct current DC buses (8, 10) connectable at a first end to an energy source (4) and at a second end to a load (6), and a third DC bus (12). A DC/DC converter (14) includes series-connected first and second semiconductor devices (16, 18) and a reactor (20) connected between the first DC bus (8) and the junction (22) of the series-connected first and second semiconductor devices (16, 18). A DC energy store (26) is connected between the second and third DC buses (10, 12) in parallel with the series-connected first and second semiconductor devices (16, 18).
