The present disclosure relates to a negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery and a rechargeable lithium battery including the negative electrode. A negative electrode for a rechargeable lithium battery includes a negative electrode current collector, and a negative electrode active material layer on the negative electrode current collector. The negative electrode active material layer includes a first negative electrode active material layer and a second negative electrode active material layer laminated on the negative electrode current collector. Each of the first and second negative electrode active material layers includes natural graphite and artificial graphite. An average particle diameter (D50) of the natural graphite is smaller than an average particle diameter of the artificial graphite.
