A battery management device according to an embodiment disclosed herein may include an acquisition unit configured to acquire voltages of a plurality of battery cells, and a controller configured to calculate a voltage profile for a voltage of each of the plurality of battery cells, linearly fit the voltage profile in a preset time section and calculate a slope of the voltage profile, and diagnose a state of each of the plurality of battery cells based on the slope of the voltage profile of each of the plurality of battery cells.
