AN AEROSOL-GENERATING DEVICE HAVING TEMPERATURE-BASED CONTROL

An aerosol-generating device is provided, including a cavity configured to receive an aerosol-forming substrate; an electrical heater configured to heat the substrate when the aerosol-forming substrate is received within the cavity; a power supply; and a controller configured to: control a supply of power from the power supply to the heater during a first time period and a second time period after the first time period, determine a rate of increase in temperature of the heater during the first time period by determining a time taken for a temperature of the heater to increase from a first predetermined temperature to a second predetermined temperature during the first time period, and adjust the supply of power from the power supply to the heater during the second time period based on the determined rate of increase in temperature during the first time period.
