A reverse-flow gas turbine engine (10) includes a core (18) of the gas turbine engine (10) comprising multiple spools (20) rotatable about a center axis (17) of the gas turbine engine (10). Each spool (20A, 40) is configured to pressurize air and to extract energy from combustion gases. The air and combustion gases are configured to flow through the core (18) in a forward direction from an air inlet (11) at an aft end of the core (18) to an outlet (15) at a forward end of the core (18). A propeller (16) is disposed forward of the outlet (15). A reduction gearbox (RGB) (31) is drivingly engaged to the core (18). An electric motor (60) is drivingly engaged to the propeller (16) and disposed axially between the RGB (31) and the propeller (16).
