When a vehicle changes a lane from a traveling lane to a target lane, the processor determines a possibility of collision between the vehicle and another vehicle in the target lane and calculates an expected amount of deceleration of the vehicle with respect to a target vehicle in the target lane when there is no possibility of collision between the vehicle and the another vehicle. The processor compares the calculated expected amount of deceleration of the vehicle with a deceleration criterion, and determines whether to perform lane change assist control based on the comparison result.",
