There is disclosed a power generation assembly () for powering a transport refrigeration system (TRS) () of a vehicle (), the power generation assembly () comprising: a torque converter () having an engine side input () and a transmission side output (); a power take-off device () coupled to the engine side input () of the torque converter (), the power take-off device () having a rotary output; a permanent magnet generator () having a rotor () directly coupled to the power take-off device () for power generation; wherein the power generation assembly () is configured to be housed in an engine bay () of a vehicle (), and is configured to generate at least 8 kW of power when the engine side input () has a rotational speed of 500 rpm.
