An air turbine starter (10) for starting an engine (14) includes a starter housing (30) defining an inlet (32), an outlet (34), and a flow path (36) extending between the inlet (32) and the outlet (34). A turbine section (22, 24) is located within the starter housing (30) and includes a turbine member (38) having a central disk (39) and a set of airfoils (40) spaced circumferentially about the central disk (39), as well as a sealing structure (70) located within the starter housing (30).
