The piston () comprises a first valve () through which the damper fluid flows when the piston () moves in a first direction A. The damper unit () further comprises an accumulator () and a check valve (), wherein the accumulator () is connected to the container tube () via the check valve () in such a manner that, when the piston () moves in at least one direction, damper fluid is pumped through the check valve () into the accumulator ().
