ON-BOARD CHARGING STATION FOR A REMOTE CONTROL DEVICE

A system (8) includes a remote control device (32) that is useable by an operator interacting with a materials handling vehicle (10). The remote control device (32) includes a wireless communication system (456) including a wireless transmitter (178) and a rechargeable power source (180). The system (8) further comprises: a receiver (102) at the vehicle (10) for receiving transmissions from the wireless transmitter (178); a controller (103) at the vehicle (10) that is communicably coupled to the receiver (102), the controller (103) being responsive to receipt of transmissions from the remote control device (32); and a charging station (50) at the vehicle (10), the charging station (50) for charging the rechargeable power source (180) of the remote control device (32). The charging station (50) comprises a visual indicator (424) configured to indicate one or more of: a charging state of the rechargeable power source (180) when coupled to the charging station (50), a charging state of the rechargeable power source (180) when removed from the charging station (50), a pairing status between the wearable remote control device (32) and the vehicle controller (103), or that the remote control device (32) is physically connected to the charging station (50).
