This charger for a portable battery is a charger (1) for a portable battery used in an electric vehicle and having a grip portion (110). The charger (1) includes a tray (2) which has a placement surface (10a) on which a battery (100) is placed. The tray (2) has a recess portion (14) which is recessed further downward than the placement surface (10a) at an end portion on a side of the grip portion (110) in a state in which the battery (100) is placed therein.
