A disc brake assembly for a heavy commercial vehicle, the disc brake assembly comprising first and second brake pads (19a, 19b) for contacting a rotor (23) during a braking operation to slow the vehicle, the rotor having a central axis defining an inboard-outboard axial direction; a brake carrier (11) for receiving at least the first brake pad; a brake caliper (12) arranged to slide with respect to the brake carrier in the axial direction for clamping and release of said rotor by the brake pads; and an actuating arrangement (26) configured to selectively move the brake caliper (12) in the outboard axial direction in relation to the brake carrier (11); wherein the actuating arrangement is electrically operated.
