The battery cell (100) comprises: a housing (110), wherein the size of the housing (110) in the length direction is greater than each of the extension sizes of the housing (110) in the thickness direction and in the width direction, and the housing (110) comprises a first plate body (111) extending in the length direction and an accommodating space (112) having at least one end open; an electrode assembly (120), arranged in the accommodating space (112); and a cover body (130), covered on the opening; wherein the first plate body (111) is provided with a pressure relief mechanism (140), the pressure relief mechanism (140) is configured to be actuated, when the internal pressure or temperature of the housing (110) reaches a threshold, to release the internal pressure, and in the length direction, the extension size of the pressure relief mechanism (140) is greater than or equal to 1/4 of the extension size of the first plate body (111).
