A method for producing a cell stack () for battery cells () comprises at least the following steps: a) feeding in at least a first material strip () comprising a first material; b) feeding in a second material strip () comprising a second material; c) making a first cut into the first material strip () and into the second material strip (), in each case forming at least one transport section () (having tensile strength), whereby the appertaining transport sections () are arranged offset in the crosswise direction relative to the material strip (); d) combining the first material strip () and the second material strip (); and e) making a second cut, whereby the transport sections () of the first and second material strips () are cut independently of each other at separating cuts () that are offset, at least in the crosswise direction or in the lengthwise direction.
