Provided are a rubber composition and a tire which have an improved overall performance in terms of abrasion resistance and chipping resistance. Included is a rubber composition containing rubber components including an isoprene-based rubber and a styrene-butadiene rubber, carbon black, silica, and at least one selected from the group consisting of compounds represented by the following formula (1) and compounds represented by the following formula (2): wherein A represents a monovalent cyclic hydrocarbon group having at least one polar group, and R and R each independently represent at least one selected from the group consisting of a hydrogen atom, an acyl group, an amide group, an alkyl group, a cycloalkyl group, and an aryl group, and wherein A represents a monovalent cyclic hydrocarbon group having at least one polar group, and R represents a divalent hydrocarbon group.
